My Story

For the last four years, I worked at WSAW TV NewsChannel 7 in Wausau, Wisconsin. Through hard work and determination, within my first two years, I was promoted from a sports/news reporter to the director and main on-air anchor of the sports department. During this time, I developed a diverse array of both on and off-camera skills that will continue to grow in my next career.

In my position, I balanced many responsibilities. Because of this, I have strong leadership and time management skills. Not only did I manage my own schedule, but I also managed and led the three-person sports department across extensive coverage of both local and professional sports. I have extensive experience working within deadlines along with coordinating filming, editing, production, and anchoring action-packed, extensive sports segments.

My passion is storytelling through various forms of media. I pride myself on my ability to find unique stories, conduct the interviews and production and tell them in a way that captivates and moves the consumer. One of my proudest achievements was winning a Wisconsin Broadcaster’s Association second-place award for a story on a local rock. In addition, I founded and produced an award-winning sports podcast which currently has over 170 episodes.

I pride myself on my ability to make meaningful connections within my community. During my TV career, I had multiple opportunities to connect with the community via award presentations and banquet speeches. These included coordinating with dozens of personnel, creating the physical awards, and presenting said awards in front of large crowds.

Working in TV allowed me to exercise my creativity. This included pitching ideas for promotional commercial shoots while also appearing in said commercials. I overhauled the station’s Friday night high school football highlight special, which included new graphics, music, and a completely new production.

I truly loved my career in the last four years and I’m extremely proud of what I have accomplished. I’m marrying my partner for life this year and we are planting our roots in my home state of Minnesota. I am highly motivated to continue working with video and storytelling. I am currently exploring careers in marketing, communication and/or video production. I learn quickly and welcome new experiences and challenges.
